Summary

The paper presents solutions of the problem in reducing the transmission line configuration (geometry) in terms of transient overvoltages jeopardy in accordance with the EN 50341-1 electrical line design and IEC 60071-1 insulation co-ordination standards. Here below the implemented statistical methods and the obtained results of the comparison of a classical 400 kV electrical line in paired version with a compact version in terms of switching and lightning overvoltages as well as electromagnetic radiation and noise are presented.
