Summary
Compacting overhead transmision lines enables reducing space occupation for the same transmissible electric power, or increasing the transmissible power for the same space occupation.
The space occupation of overhead lines is determined by the air clearances which should :
- comply with the line caracteristics
- withstand the applied stresses
- keep within acceptable limits the phenomena which may unfavourably affect the environment
- comply with construction and operational requirements
