Summary
The decision-making on whether to repair or to replace a transformer was lack of economic evaluation in a systematical way, in the past it mainly focused on the initial investment instead of the maintenance cost, which is the biggest proportion of the transformers’ whole life cycle cost (LCC) . This paper brings forward a transformer renewal model based on the LCC, which takes into consideration the performance of transformers and various technical parameters. The minimum LCC principle is suggested, and sensitivity analysis has been done on the key factors of transformers’ LCC. The model has been applied in a real case of transformer reform project and proved to be effective, achieving the optimal LCC cost.
