Summary
This paper presents the numerical studies to design a 36 kV, 1250 A wall type bushing with silicone rubber dielectric housing. A 2D axe-symmetrical model was used in the simulations, conducted by finite element method. Electric field, potential and temperature distributions were considered in the study. Effects of several parameters, such as thickness of fiber-glass tube, silicone housing and air gap, and number of silicone sheds, on the field distributions were taken into account. The field distributions were obtained both along the creepage path of the bushing and along the bushing conductor. The electric field results of silicone bushing were also compared with porcelain type bushing.
