Summary

This Technical Brochure summarized the development states of low-residual-voltage surge arresters (LRVAs), analysed the application effects of different kind of LRVAs on suppressing lightning and switching overvoltages in 1000 kV UHV AC systems, discussed the implications of eliminating closing resistors for breakers in 1000 kV UHV AC systems by surge arresters, and introduced the applications of LRVAs in 1000 kV UHV AC systems.
