Summary

This paper prepared polyethylene/silica nanocomposites with concentration of 0.5%, 1%, 3% and 5wt% using silicon dioxide (SiO2) nanopowder (nanosilica) with particles size of 50nm. At the same time, the samples with elongation of 10% have been prepared. Pulsed electroacoustic (PEA) technique has been used to study space charge distribution of nanocomposites. The results show that there is homocharges accumulation near electrodes in nanocomposites. The nanocomposites with concentration of 1wt% can suppress space charge accumulation effectively. Under tensile condition, the heterocharges accumulation near electrodes changes to homocharges accumulation in LDPE and there are more homocharges near electrodes in LDPE and nanocomposites. Comparing pristine LDPE and polyethylene/silica nanocomposites, nanocomposites with concentration of 3wt% and 5wt% can suppress space charge accumulation effectively under tensile condition.
