Summary

The current international standard for testing cable connectors, IEC 61238-1-3 applies to cable systems up to 30 kV and 1200 mm2. There is no international standard for testing connectors for high voltage (HV) and extra high voltage (EHV) cables. Much larger cable sizes, up to and above 2500 mm2, are often used in these systems. The WG recommends test regimes for HV and EHV cable connectors. These test regimes are recommended as development tests at this point of time. A further review may be appropriate when data for the new test regime are available.
