Summary

Recent developments of the practice to install HV cables in air, created a general concern regarding fire safety. This Technical Brochure wants to describe, but also to increase the awareness, that safety is a duty, not an option, and proper design and installation are good investments for the Transmission System Operator. A summary table is presented as a synthesis of the TB in order to give an overview of the various mitigation systems: the technicians can refer to it as a first screening, to focus on the best solution, according to the expected performance. The conclusion is to avoid a large disturbance thanks to a modest investment which limits material damage and allows fast recovery of the functionality of the system.
