Summary

Series compensation increases the transfer capacity for long transmission lines. Overcompensation (compensation degree above 100 %) is sometimes an option in grid expansion. No significant technical issues preventing overcompensating were found but overcompensation leads to a more complex power system and requires analyses on steady state and transient voltages, transient recovery voltages,  resonances and protection aspects, described in the technical brochure.
