Summary
Results from a world wide utility survey of failures and service experience with single pressure SF6 circuit breakers rated for 60 kV and above are presented. The surveyed service experience comprises 281 090 three phase circuit breaker years. Statistical information about 840 major and 6 655 minor failures - such as origin, cause and failed subcomponent - are provided. In addition, failure frequencies as a function of voltage level, application, technology, age and design are presented.
