Proper care and management of generator rotor end-winding retaining rings, the most highly stressed component of a generator, is essential to avoid failure, and potential resultant damage to other generator parts and harm to power plant personnel. This guideline recommends precautions to be taken to prevent such failures, and details tests and inspections, as well as guidance to developing end ring management policies and strategies.
