Summary

This TB covers a comprehensive analysis of possible options to manage stator water chemistry in order to avoid plugging of large generator stator windings cooled by water circulating through hollow copper conductors. Plugging causes water flow restrictions in the strands and thus impairs cooling, leading to an overheating of the windings. The advantages and drawbacks of every option are discussed in the present work.
