Summary

The use of high temperature conductors ( for operating temperature above 100°C ) to increase power transfer thermal limits (thermal ratings) is becoming widespread. This brochure describes the more common available conductors types, examines the effects of high temperature operation on conductors and fittings and reviews the types of fittings used, ( which were found to be largely conventionnal ). Whilst very few problems were reported, users are advised to ensure that allowable insulator temperatures are not exceeded.
