Summary

The short-circuit current levels in HV and EHV networks have been increasing considerably in recent decades and further increases may be expected in the future. High levels of short-circuit current in substations results in high mechanical stresses and in some cases, displacements, on bus systems, connections to apparatus, substation equipment and bus supports.
