Summary
Email: renming@mail.xjtu.edu.cn) Abstract: It has been reported that after the incorporation of nanoparticles in the transformer oil, both the heat transfer performance and insulating properties will be improved, but most researchers hold different views about the breakdown mechanism of oil-based nanofluid. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of diameter of nanoparticle, volume fraction and water content in oil on the breakdown voltage of transformer oil based on nanoparticles, and put forward an explanation of dielectirc strength of nanofluids according to the bubble breakdown theory. The nanoparticles will be attached to the surface of bubbles in the oil to form a layer of film, which plays a significant role in strengthening the stability of bubbles and inhibiting the development of bubbles, and finally improve the breakdown voltage of transformer oil. Keywords: transformer oil based on nanofulids; breakdown mechanism; dielectric strength; bubble breakdown theory.
