Summary

More and more underground power cables are used in Taipower transmission system. The power was supplied to city center through high voltage power cables, whichare usually connected to the overhead lines at the connection stations. Recently, many breakdown cases of straight joints and/or terminations of 161 kV XLPE cables happened after the switching process. This paper focuses on investigating the relative effect of reclosing process on cable straight joints. The mitigation method will be proposed.
