Summary
Based on the in-depth investigation of electrode erosion mechanism, the basic process of electrode erosion was outlined in this paper. Firstly, an experiment platform of gas spark switch was built. Then the electrode erosion characteristics under different pulse current was studied in lab. Meanwhile, the change rules of erosion mass, the diameter of electrode etch pit and electrode surface roughness were discussed and analysed. The results indicate that with the increase of pulse current amplitude and pulse width, the degree of electrode erosion became more serious. If the total transfer charge is constant, electrode erosion will intensify along with the transfer rate of charge increasing. In conclusion, the degree of electrode erosion in gas spark switch mainly depends on the energy which can cause electrode erosion and force acting on the electrode material.
