Summary

Integrating the communications of the protective relay system with those of other power applications over a shared networkgenerates potential anomalies impacting the performance of the protection application. This TB examines the usage of both synchronous time multiplexed and packet switched communication channels for protective relays together with theoretical analysis and practical design rules and precautions to overcome communication anomalies.
