Summary

Interconnections between major networks are becoming increasingly important but more difficult to achieve. Existing overhead lines (OHL) have to be up-rated whilst more compensated lines, cables or HVDC connections are applied. Several up-rating methods are used: utilize the dynamic (cyclic) loading capacity, increase the operating voltage, apply compensation, phase shifting transformers, FACTS and HVDC systems, apply new designs for lines. The impact for HV equipment are investigated and reported in the TB.
