Research on the conversion of polarization/depolarization current and frequency domain spectroscopy for XLPE cable specimens



In order to detect condition of the cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cables under low frequency, we put forward 3 methods: recognizing the parameters of extended Debye model, Fourier transform and Hamon approximate method. Firstly, 3 samples, aged under 160°C for 0, 10 and 15 days, were carried out PDC and FDS measurement. The tand curves can be calculated by 3 methods from PDC data, and compared with the measured curves. The result shows that calculated and measured curves match very well for 3 methods when frequency is lower than their upper frequency. The curves calculated by recognizing the parameters of extended Debye model and Fourier transform are quite same, and its upper frequency can reach 0.1Hz. On the other hand, the upper frequency of Hamon approximate method is 0.01Hz, while this method is more easy to use. So we can replace the FDS with PDC under low frequency to reduce the test time.
