SIMULATION OF VALVE-SIDE WINDING VOLTAGE OF CONVERTER TRANSFORMERS INFLUENCED BY THYRISTOR TRIGGER-DELAYED ANGLE

 

Abstracts

The converter transformers are the most critical equipment in high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems. Valve-side winding of converter transformers withstands complex electrical stresses combined with AC, DC and pulse voltages. The valve equivalent circuit of converter was presented in this paper and the simulation model was established. The voltage waveform that the main insulation of converter transformer valve-side winding withstanding was obtained through simulation. The simulation results show that the amplitude of converter valve output voltage increases when the trigger-delayed angle of thyristor decreases. AC and DC voltages are the main components of the pulse voltage that valve-side winding withstands and the ratio of AC to DC component decreases while the trigger-delayed angle decreases.
