Title:

Practical experiences on performance tests for UHV AC-, UHV DC- and UHV impulse measuring systems using a 800-kV reference set in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2005

Abstracts

Depending on the kind of test (type-, routine-, design-, operational-, dielectric-, production-, special tests, etc.) and type of HV equipment (transformer, bushings, surge arrestors, voltage source converter, overhead lines, etc.), nowadays test levels in the Ultra High Voltage (UHV) range commonly reach up to UpL = 4.000 kV (lightning impulse voltage), UpS = 3.000 kV (switching impulse voltage), UAC = 1.700 kV (AC voltage), UDC = 2.000 kV (DC voltage) (cf. [1][2][3][4][5][5]). The corresponding voltage measuring systems should fulfil the requirements in accordance with IEC 60060-2 Ed. 3.0 for approved measuring systems, whereas in the scope of IEC 60060-1 Ed. 3.0 is noted that “…voltages Um above 800 kV meeting some specified procedures, tolerances and uncertainties may not be achievable” [7]. In this context, the paper reports on practical experiences, challenges and specific results of UHV AC-, UHV DC- and UHV impulse performance tests in accordance to IEC 60060-2, where the conducted comparison method (including test setup arrangements) and the used methods for linearity tests are described in detail. Determining and considering all combined standard uncertainties, for the examined UHV measuring systems an overall relative expanded uncertainty for the test voltage UM resp. M1 < 3 % and for the time parameter UM3 < 10 % is achieved, which is within the limits for approved measuring systems in accordance with IEC 60060-2 Ed. 3.0 [7].
