Summary

Electricity markets in Europe, South America, Australia and the USA have been liberalised or will be opened in the near future, respectively. In consequence the power business undergoes a fundamental change. In the past electricity markets were monopolies. After the liberalisation power producers as well as customers face a market risk with prices which can be very volatile.
